Happy Holidays Possum lovers,

It is with great sadness and impending doom that we send this last email from Possum Headquarters before the earth comes to a horrific end this Friday. It’s been swell knowing all of you and we can’t thank you enough for your support over the years. Seriously, you’ve been wonderful.

So stop wrapping presents, blow off the rest of your holiday shopping and forget about those dirty dishes and piles of laundry while you’re at it. You need to live these last precious moments on earth to the fullest. More specifically, you need to come shake your ass at High Rock Outfitters in Lexington TONIGHT, December 20! The show starts at 9:30 p.m., and we’re the only band on the bill, so come on down, eat some barbeque and see what the buzz is about at High Rock Outfitters.

And, after having tearful goodbyes with family members and perhaps the odd co-worker, you need to head to The Garage in Winston-Salem on Friday, December 21, for Possum Jenkins’ End of Days Bash, or as Brewer is referring to it, the A-Possum-calypse.

Friday’s show will also feature an opening set by none other than Possum’s own Sanders Willis (aka Davo) to celebrate the release of his first solo disc, Plot Hound. Davo and friends will hit the stage at 9:00 p.m. sharp, so don’t lolligag. Watch this short video featuring songs from Plot Hound.

(DISCLAIMER: If, for some strange reason, The Garage is not engulfed in a large fireball or somehow hoovered off the face of the planet, we WILL NOT be offering refunds at the door.)

Because none of us can really be sure what’s going to happen tomorrow, Possum Jenkins decided to book a gig for New Year’s Eve at the one and only Boone Saloon. We’re calling it our New Year’s Eve Champagne Jam, and our very good friends The Worthless Son-In-Laws will be opening. It’s probably going to get rowdy. Especially if Rob Brown has anything to do with it.

So yeah, that’s about it for us. So long. Over and out.

Happy Almost-Turkey-Day, Possum lovers!
Things are humming here at Possum Central in preparation for this week’s annual post-Thanksgiving show at Ziggy’s in Winston-Salem. We’ve got a brand spanking new run of Possum t-shirts rolling hot off the screen printer just in time for the show (American Apparel, in case you were wondering). Whilst stuffing ourselves repeatedly this week, we’ll be patching together the set list in between football-induced naps. If there is something you’re dying to hear, click over to our Facebook page and let us know. We’re not making any promises or anything, but one never knows…

We should mention that our good friends The Deluge will be opening the show, so don’t sit around gnawing on turkey legs for too long or you’ll miss one of the best bands in the Triad.

We’re finishing 2012 out strong with several big shows and we hope that you’ll make some time during the holidays to come get your Possum on. Keep reading to see if we’ll be in your neck of the woods.

Thursday, December 20th @ High Rock Outfitters (Lexington, NC)

Friday, December 21st @ The Garage (Winston-Salem, NC)

Monday, December 31st @ Boone Saloon NEW YEAR’S EVE BASH!! (Boone, NC)

Looking ahead to 2013, the Possum train will roll on with plenty of shows around the Old North State and beyond. We’ve come to realize over the years that perhaps a bar/club/venue isn’t always the most ideal setting to hear our music (too late, too loud, too gross…). If you think you might be interested in hosting an intimate, acoustic house concert performance with Possum Jenkins, we’d like to hear from you. Email us at for more information.
That’s about it y’all. Hopefully we’ll see lots of you this Friday night in the Twin Cities!!

Happy fall Possum lovers,

After a pause for the cause, your favorite marsupials return to action next week with shows in Charlotte and Asheville (see below for details). Also, we’ve got multiple shows on the horizon in for our hometown crowd in Winston-Salem, as well as a special announcement about New Year’s Eve!!
Before we proceed, the Possum family would like to send out congratulations to Jared and Katherine Church on the birth of their daughter, Carson Margret!! The Church family is well and extremely excited to be venturing into parenthood. No word on how Boone, their beloved coon hound, is handling no longer being the center of attention.
This Thursday, October 25, Possum Jenkins will return to Charlotte for our first-ever headlining slot at the fabulous Visulite Theatre. Joining us will be rising Michigan band The Ragbirds. Our apologies for this being a bit last minute, but we could really use all of your support on this one. Facebookers, please help us spread the word by sharing our event page.
This Saturday, October 27, Los Possums will make a long-awaited return to the great city of Asheville when we play an early show (6:00 to 8:00 p.m.) at Highlands Brewing!! Come enjoy pints and Possum at one of North Carolina’s most successful breweries.
We’ve also have a trio of holiday shows coming up faster than we’d care to admit. On Friday, November 23, we’ll play our umpteenth post-Thanksgiving show in Winston-Salem by headlining Ziggy’s. Our friends The Deluge are opening. On Friday, December 21, we’ll keep your holiday spirits high with our apocalyptic End-of-Days show at The Garage. And last, but not least, we’ll be RINGING IN THE NEW YEAR AT BOONE SALOON!!!
Ladies and gents, a special round of applause also goes out this week to Possum’s own Davo “Don’t Call Me Col. Sanders” Willis for being a finalist in Our State Magazine’s inaugural North Carolina songwriting competition (songs about NC, that is). Davo’s song “A Toast” from PJ’s most recent release, Carolinacana, landed among the 20 tunes being considered. While “A Toast” didn’t take home top honors, we still think both the song and Davo kicks ass. If you haven’t seen/heard the Davo-led Wurlitzer Prize (featuring Molly McGinn, as well as Jared Church, Nathan Turner and Brent Buckner of Possum Jenkins infamy), well…what the hell are you doing with your life?
Alright boys and girls. Time to check the oil and vacuum out the van. Let’s talk about shows:
Thursday, October 25th @ The Visulite Theatre (Charlotte, NC)
w/ The Ragbirds
Saturday, October 27th @ Highland Brewing Company (Asheville, NC)
6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Friday, November 23rd @ Ziggy’s (Winston-Salem, NC)
w/ The Deluge
Friday, December 21st @ The Garage (Winston-Salem, NC)
Monday, December 31st @ Boone Saloon NEW YEAR’S EVE BASH!! (Boone, NC)
Well folks, that’s about it. Hope to see lots of y’all out at the shows. As always, your love and support is much appreciated.

Happy summer Possum fans!
Here at Possum Headquarters, we’re grabbing something cold to drink and yanking the chain on the ceiling fan to keep things nice and cool. We’re also cranking up the A/C in the van because, after a brief pause for the cause, we’re hitting the road!!

This Saturday, June 23, Possum Jenkins will cruise down I-85 bound for the Queen City, where we’ll return to the one and only Puckett’s Farm Equipment. Sponsored once again by our friend Chris at Red Dirt Promotions, Possum will hit the stage around 10:30 p.m. Opening band Cold Bait Live Beer will hit the stage at 9:00 p.m.

Next weekend, Possum Jenkins will deliver a High Country double header with back-to-back nights in Boone. On Friday, July 6, Los Possums will join our very good friends The Worthless Son-In-Laws for a lovely evening of free music at The Jones House in downtown Boone. Music starts at 5:00 p.m.

Following the Jones House show, the Son-In-Laws and most of the Possums will head to Boone Saloon for Dave Brewer’s 5th Annual Big Badass Birthday Benefit Bonanza. This show typically features lots of special guests, so come help us raise money for local High Country Charities while we get silly on stage.

On Saturday, July 7, Possum Jenkins will head back to the friendly confines of Boone Saloon to join forces with monster NYC-based band Izzy & The Catastrophics. Stitching together rock n’ roll, swing, surf, honky tonk and bebop, this band has shared the stage with everyone from the Reverend Horton Heat to Snoop Dogg. DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW!!

Howdy folks,
Just when we thought things couldn’t possibly get any more exciting here at Possum Central, we get another dose of thrilling news!! On Sunday, April 22, Possum’s own Dave Willis made an honest woman out of Allison Everhart by asking her to be his bride. Against her better judgement, she said YES!

Congratulations to Davo and Allison!!

Folks, we need a win here. You can vote once a day every day from your computer, phone, or whatever web device you fancy. Please cast your votes daily and help spread the word and we just might pull this thing off. The voting ends one week from today, so don’t delay. Click HERE to vote now!!

Hey folks,

Things are moving full speed ahead here at Possum Central. March was crazy busy and April seems to be shaping up much the same. We’ve got a handful of stellar shows beginning with this weekend’s jaunt to Columbia. More on that later.

Possum Jenkins has been called a lot of things over the years (and not all them were good), but award-winning isn’t one of them. Well, that might all be about to change!! On April 1, Possum Jenkins was nominated in the Best Country Band, Group or Duo for the 2012 Independent Country Music Association Awards. To be honest, we’re not quite sure how this happened. Nevertheless, the response has already been amazing and inspiring. If you haven’t already, we’d love for you to cast your vote for us. Simply click HERE! And tomorrow…you know…if you’re not busy, maybe you could vote again. Just sayin’…

Hey folks,
Spring has taken hold and the mighty Possum has risen from its winter hibernation and taken to the road. Things got underway last weekend with three great shows in Martinsville, VA, Greensboro and Winston-Salem respectively. We knocked the dust off, saw some old friends and generally had a blast.

We’ve got a pair of big shows beginning with tomorrow night’s Appalachian Voices benefit at the new Blind Tiger in Greensboro. In addition to raising money for a great cause, this will be the first chance to catch us on the same bill with The Wurlitzer Prize–a new project featuring our own Jared Church, Dave Willis and Brent Buckner alongside longtime cohort and Carolinacana contributor Molly McGinn (ex-Amelia’s Mechanics). Show starts at 10 p.m. and there is a $10 cover.

On Wednesday, March 28, Possum Jenkins will head to the Queen City where we’ll make our Visulite Theatre debut, opening for Knoxville’s Dirty Guv’nahs. The Visulite is one of Charlotte’s finest rooms and we’ve wanted to play there for some time. We’d love to see all of our Charlotte folks out there, even if it is a school night.

As you may have noticed, our good friend Jamie Carroll has given a serious spring cleaning. Click through the site if you get a second and peruse his handywork!

Upcoming Shows:
Saturday, March 24 @ The Blind Tiger–Greensboro w/ The Wurlitzer Prize
Wednesday, March 28 @ The Visulite Theatre–Charlotte w/ The Dirty Guv’nahs

Hello gentle readers,
It’s hard to believe that a band that wasn’t supposed to last more than a month or two has now entered its eighth year. Ladies and gents, Possum Jenkins first took the stage on a snowy night at Murphy’s in Boone to play a spirited, rowdy, less-than-perfect show for our friends and to be honest, that’s exactly what we’re still doing.

Four albums, thousands of miles and more than 250 shows later, we’re going stronger than ever thanks to the love and support of our friends, fans and family. After a brief hiatus to allow the Turner family to settle in with young Levi Andrew, we’re dusting off our amps, running over a few tunes, gassing up the van and hitting the road. We’ve got a slew of shows coming down the line, so get your big red marker out and put us on your calendar!!

We’ve got several exciting things on the horizon, including opening for (former Drive-By-Trucker) Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit at Ziggy’s, our first ever show at Charlotte’s fabulous Visulite Theatre opening for Knoxville rockers The Dirty Guv’nahs and a long-awaited return to Columbia, SC. See our full list of upcoming shows below:

Friday, 3/16: Martinsville, VA @ The Rives Theater
Saturday, 3/17: Winston-Salem, NC @ The Old Winston Social Club
Saturday, 3/24: Greensboro, NC @ The Blind Tiger w/ Wurlitzer Prize (special mountaintop removal benefit show)
Wednesday, 3/28: Charlotte, NC @ The Visulite Theatre w/ The Dirty Guv’nahs
Friday, 4/6: Columbia, SC @ Five Points Pub w/ Josh Roberts & The Hinges
Friday, 4/13: Winston-Salem, NC @ Ziggy’s w/ Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit
Saturday, 4/14: Raleigh, NC @ Sadlack’s Heroes
Saturday, 4/28: Winston-Salem @ The Garage w/ The Dirty Guv’nahs

Although we haven’t been on the road, Carolinacana has been making its way out into the world. Family Reunion Country named it Album Of The Week, calling the record “a heaping helping of 14 tracks worth of Piedmont blues perfectly seasoned with traditional country, gospel, and even country-rock spiciness.” Read the review at

In addition to glowing reviews, Carolinacana has been featured in several alt. country and Americana podcasts. Check our Facebook page for all the corresponding links. And in case you were wondering, the record is available for download via iTunes.

Alright y’all, I’m sure I’m forgetting something, but that’s all the time we have for today. See y’all at the shows!!

Happy holidays folks,
We here at Possum Central are thrilled to announce that Carolinacana, our fourth studio album, is finally here. Yes ladies and gents, Santa brought us 1,000 little shrink wrapped presents that we’re planning on re-gifting to all of you!!

This Friday, December 30th, Possum Jenkins will celebrate the release of Carolinacana with a special CD release show at The Garage in Winston-Salem. Joining us on the bill will be one of North Carolina’s finest musicians, singer-songwriter and super soul brother Greg Humphreys. In addition to his trio of stellar solo offerings, Humphreys also serves as frontman for alt. soul outfit Hobex and college rock favorites Dillon Fence.

The show will start at 9:30 with an opening set by Greg, followed by a long night of Possum tunes old and new. The cover is $8. Carolinacana will be for sale at the show for a special CD release show price. The new disc will be for sale via our website in the coming days, as well as other sites in the near future including CD Baby, iTunes and others.

Once again, we’d like to extend our utmost gratitude to our Kickstarter supporters who made the new record possible. Y’all went to bat for us when we needed you and we will be forever in your debt. We sincerely hope that we’ve done you proud with the new batch of songs. We will be mailing all of your rewards within the next week. Or, if you’re going to be at the CD release party, you can pick them up at The Garage.

(A quick aside about sharing music: We need you to share. We want you to share. We want you to burn a copy of our disc and give it to a friend, or email post some tracks online. Of course we’d like to sell some CDs, but spreading the Possum gospel is more important than freaking out over a few dollars. Help us get the word out by sharing.)

In other massively exciting news, Possum’s very own Nathan Turner and his wife Jennifer welcomed Levi Andrew Turner into the world a few weeks ago. We’re all extremely proud and excited for the Turner family, and can’t wait to get L.A. on stage with the band!!

Alright folks, that’s about all the news that’s fit to print. We can’t wait for you to hear Carolinacana. We’ll see you at the show.
