Hello gentle readers,
It’s hard to believe that a band that wasn’t supposed to last more than a month or two has now entered its eighth year. Ladies and gents, Possum Jenkins first took the stage on a snowy night at Murphy’s in Boone to play a spirited, rowdy, less-than-perfect show for our friends and to be honest, that’s exactly what we’re still doing.

Four albums, thousands of miles and more than 250 shows later, we’re going stronger than ever thanks to the love and support of our friends, fans and family. After a brief hiatus to allow the Turner family to settle in with young Levi Andrew, we’re dusting off our amps, running over a few tunes, gassing up the van and hitting the road. We’ve got a slew of shows coming down the line, so get your big red marker out and put us on your calendar!!

We’ve got several exciting things on the horizon, including opening for (former Drive-By-Trucker) Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit at Ziggy’s, our first ever show at Charlotte’s fabulous Visulite Theatre opening for Knoxville rockers The Dirty Guv’nahs and a long-awaited return to Columbia, SC. See our full list of upcoming shows below:

Friday, 3/16: Martinsville, VA @ The Rives Theater
Saturday, 3/17: Winston-Salem, NC @ The Old Winston Social Club
Saturday, 3/24: Greensboro, NC @ The Blind Tiger w/ Wurlitzer Prize (special mountaintop removal benefit show)
Wednesday, 3/28: Charlotte, NC @ The Visulite Theatre w/ The Dirty Guv’nahs
Friday, 4/6: Columbia, SC @ Five Points Pub w/ Josh Roberts & The Hinges
Friday, 4/13: Winston-Salem, NC @ Ziggy’s w/ Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit
Saturday, 4/14: Raleigh, NC @ Sadlack’s Heroes
Saturday, 4/28: Winston-Salem @ The Garage w/ The Dirty Guv’nahs

Although we haven’t been on the road, Carolinacana has been making its way out into the world. Family Reunion Country named it Album Of The Week, calling the record “a heaping helping of 14 tracks worth of Piedmont blues perfectly seasoned with traditional country, gospel, and even country-rock spiciness.” Read the review at http://familyreunioncountry.blogspot.com/2012/01/album-of-week-carolinacana-by-possum.html

In addition to glowing reviews, Carolinacana has been featured in several alt. country and Americana podcasts. Check our Facebook page for all the corresponding links. And in case you were wondering, the record is available for download via iTunes.

Alright y’all, I’m sure I’m forgetting something, but that’s all the time we have for today. See y’all at the shows!!
